HB racing star Ty Tessmann finished 3rd in the Invite class at the Dual race that ran recently in Banning, California, at Pro-Line's test track, AND at the Thunder Alley track (that's why they call it 'The Dual')!
The invite class which ran a Reedy-style format - each driver picked a numbered table tennis ball out of a pumpkin (we hope it was a plastic pumpkin!) to set their starting position for each race. There were three 15-minute races for buggy and three 15-minute races for truggy at the Pro-Line track on Saturday and 3 more races of each class at the Thunder Alley track, with the best 2 finishes of each class each day counting for the final result. The winner of each race received the lowest score for that race, and driver with the lowest combined score at the end of the weekend would be winner!
Ty didn't get any front row starts on the grid mostly mid pack or rear starts on Saturday, but he still finished with 2 wins and a 5th place finish in buggy and in truggy he had three 2nd place finishes on day one- a great start!
As Sunday dawned, Ty was in the lead by 1 point and by the final
Buggy Invite race Ty was in the running for the overall win - but
he drew 10th place on the grid while the other two drivers who
could win drew 1st and 2nd on the grid. The lucky streak was over!
The race didn't go as well as we would have liked and Ty finished
5th, making him 3rd overall in the Invite class.
It sounds like it was a fascinating weekend all the same and we wish Team Tessmann better luck at all their races for the rest of the year!
